Brad Is Us and We Are Brad

Written By: Cody Huska

I never realized that my life could change in a matter of seconds until the worst thing that could ever happen to anyone happened to me. On June 16, 2007, I realized I would never be able to talk to my brother ever again. My brother, David Bradley Huska, was born on October 26, 1981. He was the coolest person ever and had a smile that could brighten a room.

Growing up, Brad made the best out of everything and always loved to have fun.

He was the one who loved extreme activities like jumping BMX bikes, listening to metal, and partying. His friends were everything to him, and he loved to hang out with them. Bradley also loved airplanes. After graduating from Carlsbad High School and attending the Spartan School of Aeronautics in Tulsa, Oklahoma, he landed a job at Palomar Airport. He was extremely stoked. Then he met the love of his life, Jessica, and they moved in together. Eventually, they moved to Sacramento, so my brother could take an even better job. And then my brother was off to Alabama for a three-month job.

Wherever my brother was, we still talked every week, and he would tell me that he missed the family and his friends and he wanted to come home. I wish he had because it was there it happened. He passed away suddenly in a freak accident. If there was one thing I could tell my brother right now, I would tell him how gnarly he was and how big of a bitch I would be right now if it wasn't for him. He taught me everything I know, and he was my role model. I looked to him for everything.

Even though Bradley only had 25 years on this earth, he lived them to the fullest, and he's having a great time right now partying it up. I love him with all my heart and soul. He will never be forgotten. Brad is us and we are Brad. Rest in peace, Bro. I love you, man.

I remember going to grade school with you and Ryan... Back in the day when it was cool to rollerblade. (Was it ever really cool? I think we just thought so because we were 10.) I will never forget those fun times on Mimosa, when we finally upgraded to skateboards and earned our fair share of cuts and bruises. I know I will see you again someday... And this time we will fly...

Brad... wow what can I say.  I had a phone call way back from Jessica, "mommy, you have to meet him when you come to SD."   I wake up with this tall lanky kid looking over his couch saying "hi mom" I laugh now.  He could be so honest and you never knew what  he would say but you knew it was exactly what he was thinking.
